Here is the before picture.
Bad I know! As you can see, it screams for some attention! Our options were limited along with our budget. It was either, tear it down and start saving to replace it with a new one or try and refurbish/renovate it into something that looked more acceptable!
Knowing we had lots of items in the shed that would not have a home if we tore it down, we made the decision to renovate! Basic shopping list: Paint, spray paint, paint supplies (brush, roller, etc.). With that and a few tools from the garage, we (or should I say he) began! Oh and we made sure to pick a color that matched the siding of our house!
As you can see above, the bottom was a little deteriorated which really needs to be rebuilt, but again, this is a budget friendly fix! So we painted right over it. The door also needed a lot of attention. We took out the window and glass before we painted. Since one layer of the glass was broken, we had to remove the broken glass and put the solid one back in. We decided to only put trim back up on the outside. The trim of the window was what we decided to spray paint. Since it was plastic, it seemed easier and it was!
So after everything was painted, we waited for it to dry and after the finishing touches were made like the trim and putting the door back together, here is what we got!
Looks like a brand new shed huh? Well it only took about $50, compared to a $4000 for a new one! And the biggest impact it made was how much it changed the look of our backyard. It had been an eye sore for so long that we almost got used to it. Once it was renovated, we actually felt better about hanging out back there!
And the better news, once we go to sell, it will help our curb appeal!! Yes, I ALWAYS think about how a project will impact my resale…and you should too, unless your living in your “forever” home. Come back for more DIY projects that will boost your property value/appeal…This was too much fun not to do it again on something else!!!
